PixSylated 2.0 – The Web Magazine

PixSylated 2.0 is here. The site has been redesigned as a web magazine. Click here for a road map to the new layout.
What’s the difference? A complete overhaul of the home page makes it much easier to cruise the content. Rather than see a handful of posts, the site now presents snippets of dozens of articles. First-time visitors will immediately get a sense of the breadth of content on PixSylated. There is also a cool feed of the latest photos from the PixSylated group at Flickr.
If you received this article via your web reader, click through to PixSylated and take a drive around. I bet you’ll find several articles that you missed earlier.

Sorry not feeling it. Way too small of font and seems cluttered. It doesn’t really clearly show updated postings like before.
Sorry just Keeping it real. Of course to me.
Big C,
Hey Shawn – Thanks for commenting. So few people actually take the time. As for showing the most recent posts, here how the new layout works:
Left side – The Newer Material:
‘Lessons I Didn’t Learn In Photo School’ is now a weekly column (published Wednesdays) that appears at the very top.
The newest article (other than LIDLIPS) appears just below in the double column box.
The next most-recent articles scroll down below ‘The Newest Article’.
Right side – The Archive:
Scrolling box of recent posts tagged ‘Photographers To Know’
A list of the most recent articles from each of the most widely-read categories.
Flickr, Twitter and other widgets way below.
You’re right. The new layout is cluttered. It throws a bit of everything in your face… just like the front pages of a magazine.
Most of the regular PixSylarians get the newest article delivered by RSS or email (subscribe here). The redesign was created more for those who have landed in PixSyland for the first time.
Again, thanks for commenting. Ciao! Syl
i dont usually like layouts like this because they feel cluttered and confusing. but when i read your response describing what each section was for it instantly made sense. perhaps some labels to indicate the things you explained to shawn will be a help to first time visitors who might get turned off by the layout.
A Guide To Reading PixSylated is here. You’ll find a road map to how the front page is designed. Thanks to all who asked for it.
