Following the recent publication of my updated Speedliter’s Handbook, I had many overdue promises to fulfill. The foremost of which was to spent more time with my family. Now that I’ve made good on that promise, I’m pleased to announce that I’ve created the Exposure Quick Guide that I mentioned in the Handbook’s  Chapter 2: Exposure Exposed.

You can read the entire guide here and download PDFs designed for mobile devices and for printing (links below). Of course, this is just a tiny fraction of the info that you’l find in the new Handbook. (To take a peek inside the Handbook, check out this post.)

  1. Syl, this is a fantastic reference. Much needed. I am really looking forward to reading your new speedlight book too, as I am soon to graduate from the Art Institute. I have watched several of your video presentations online and commend you for your character and the way you make this subject of OCF seem easier in real world terms we can understand.

I’ve recommended Syl’s book to many photographers who struggle to learn lighting or have a fair understanding of some but not other parts. If you could add one lighting book to your library this would be the one I recommend. You will refer to it over and over. Well work the price.

Awesome. Simply awesome. Thank you Syl.

I used to own a Canon EOS 600D (aka Rebel T3i) here in the UK.
After so many years of just getting by, I have upgraded to the Canon 5D Mark III.

    With my Canon 600D, I had a Speedlite 320EX.

Having upgraded to full frame EOS, I have acquired the Speedlite 600EX II-RT.
I have watched several of your tutorials on this beauty.

I have now also bought the 430EX III-RT, so that i can use on camera in a master/slave set up.
I also plan to get a trigger, so that i can use all off camera set up.

Watching the tutorial on the 430EX III-RT, i have decided to buy the latest edition of “SPEEDLITER’S HANDBOOK”.

All i can say is, well done for all the good works (and remember to take those BP tablets).

  4. Very nice guide , use the flash canon forever, but even if the photographer in Milan and I do it as a profession , I have done by myself and small courses and a lot of perseverance .
For many years I work in professional photography , but never stop learning , thanks to the resources that you put large available .
    Thank you so much
